About the Club

Lochar Thistle Boys AFC

Trevor WilsonThe club was formed in 1987 by Eddie McCormick and Trevor Wilson from the P6 & P7 boys of Locharbriggs Primary School. Matches and training sessions were held on the pitch behind Locharbriggs Community Centre.

The following season we joined the Dumfries Youth League at under 12 level and continued with this team until they were under 16. As the club grew in numbers we switched our home base to the Tech College and started working with younger age groups.

Ten years ago we moved to our present ground at the Enterprise Park, Heathhall and built our changing rooms from an old prefabricated building gifted to the club, but we were charged £600 for the roof.

We also encorporated a half size floodlight pitch for our training area, all work being done by volunteers, our pitch and training area is now the envy of the South West and has been used by the S.F.A as a training base, the S.W.F.A, D&G Schools and many more organisations.

We also have in the past, been associated with first Dalbeattie Star then Threave Rovers as we sought to keep our older boys in football.

We are presently a feeder club for Q.O.S and provide them with ball boys and girls for all home games.

We presently have teams at under 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 & 17 age groups with 20 coaches cleared through Disclosure Scotland with levels of coaching from S.F.A level 1 up to "B licence" - 8 hold first aid certificates.

Lochar Thistle Youths F.C.For the past two years we have been working to raise funds to allow us to build new permanent changing rooms and this has now become a reality, funding was gained thanks to awards from Sport Scotland and Nithsdale Community Council Capital Fund together with the support of local businesses.

From the start of 2007/2008 our club name became LOCHAR THISTLE YOUTHS F.C to satisfy conditions placed on us by Sports Scotland.
