GOALKEEPER TRAINING WITH DAVY BYERS

The goalkeepers had a real treat tonight (Monday 11th March 2013) with Queen of the South goalkeeper coach, Davy Byers taking the training. All the players and coaches learned a lot from Davy's input and we would like to thank him for taking time out of his busy schedule to join us and pass on his knowledge and experience.

NEW  GOALKEEPING COACHES

The club are grateful for the assistance of Garry Duff who has agreed to help out on the Monday nights training. Garry will support Darren covering as many nights as his work will allow. We are really thankful for Garry's help and support.

Lochar Thistle Youths AFC are proud to welcome two new goalkeeping coaches who have agreed to train the club goalkeepers. Darren Martin and Graham Wright who have strong links to the club have accepted the opportunity to train the club's keepers who appear to be thoroughly enjoying the Monday night training sessions.

Training has now moved back to a Monday night between 6pm - 7pm at a cost of £2. The club would like to thank Darren and Graham for their assistance and wish them all the best in the coming months.

GOALKEEPERS TRIP TO NEWCASTLE GOALKEEPER ACADEMY TRAINING TRIP

The goalkeepers had an excellent day out on the 6th May 2012 when they travelled down to Newcastle to train at the Newcastle United training ground. It was an early start for the players who left Dumfries at 6:30 am to travel to Newcastle for a 9am start. The boys were put through their paces by goalkeeping coach Steven Graham who provided a 2 hour training session.

After the training the boys headed across the city to St James Park where they watched the game against Manchester City. Ruaridh Wallace was fortunate to assist as a ballboy at the ground and was able to watch the players at close range as they warmed up and played the match.

Stewart and the keepers would like to thank Grant McCubbin from Klic Cars, Heathhall Industrial Estate, Dumfries for sponsoring the new footballs.

Global Goals are used by many of the Premier League Clubs and are excellent for allowing players to practise their passing, crossing, shooting and goalkeeping skills.

Donald endured a wet and windy night to come to the club to meet the players and present the goals. The players, coaches and committee would like to thank Donald for his support and assistance.
