Following a quick refreshment stop at Killington Lake services the boys participated in a football picture quiz which was made up by Ross. The winners of the quiz with a remarkable 22 out of 22 was Henry Sainsbury and Greig Lawrie who won £10. We eventually arrived at Boltons impressive Reebok stadium at 10:20am just in time for our stadium tour.

The stadium tour lasted just less than an hour in which our tour guide Ian explained Boltons 365 day a year off field activities which bring much needed revenue to the club. Highlight of the tour was the home dressing rooms with all the players kit ready for the days game and the friendliness of the Bolton kit man. A quick visit to the club shop for souvenirs and then a quick change before the hours coaching session from Boltons community coaches at Bolton Arena. The kids all enjoyed a well put together training session during which the Bolton coaches commented on the very high standard of all the Lochar kids especially Kirsty Howat, Ryan Mould and Jordan Patterson. Highlight of the training session was Lochar Under 15's player Henry Sainsbury nut-megging one of the Bolton coaches much to the pleasure of his Bolton colleagues.
Following a quick change it was onto the game our tickets were in the North Stand upper tier a great view and excellent friendly atmosphere added to by Andy Howat and Graham Lennox. It was nice to see three goals but the funniest moment of the match was when a Birmingham fan in Pamela Anderson baywatch fancy dress did a mini pitch invasion only too receive a standing ovation from the whole stadium.
After the match we started our long journey home which we broke up with a refreshment stop at Lancaster eventually arriving back in Dumfries at 10:00pm.

Under 17's claim first silverware of the season:

The final of the Ryedale Cup between Lochar and Dalbeattie 17's took place at the Keswick Centre on Friday 5th March .As is often the case in cup finals, it was a tense affair, with both teams struggling on a poor surface.Dalbeattie had the better of the first half, but Duncan Orr in the Lochar goal didnt have a real save to make.
The second half saw Lochar come more in to the game and Vinny Coleman drew a good save from the Dalbeattie goalkeeper with a powerfull free kick. Lochar then opened the scoring when Jordan Nish produced a cool finish just inside the box, this proved to be the winning goal. Dalbeattie pushed for an equaliizer but Lochar were comfortable at the back, and content to hit on the counter. Both teams played the game in the right spirit and the Dalbeattie centre back was voted man of the match.Credit must go to the Dalbeattie managment team who although dissapointed, were gracious in defeat.
Captain Connor Robb was presented with the cup by League Chairman Lee Steritt, and Lochars thanks go to him, and Match Secretary Mark Phillips for all their hard work on the night, and indeed throughout the season.
Match officialls Referee David Laurie and his assistants Tony Davies and Robert Morrison all had very good games in a sporting cup final.

Lochar goes global.. helping kids In Borneo

Under 13 Colts Coach Andy Pirrie's Nephew Greame Wallace recently set out on a 28 day expedition to Borneo spending a week in the remote village of Kampong Monsok. Graham Describes:
"How He lived with a family in their home and the group worked on improvement of the village hall. We painted a mural, built and put up shelving and planted trees to improve the area around the hall. During our week we had a great time with the children from the village, playing games, reading books and playing football. Most evenings we played football against the village team who play in a local league against other villages. They love their football and beat us every time. At the end of the week the villagers held a celebration for us which included traditional music, dance and food. We presented them with the football strips from Lochar Thistle along with books and pencils for the school. They were delighted with the strips as you can see from the photograph of the kids"
The Committee are delighted that kids many thousands of miles away have benefited from some of our Kit. A big Thank You Goes to Greame & Andy for organising this.
